Svalbard Polar Bear Special

Welcome to the Polar Bear World: This special trip to the island of Spitsbergen and the Svalbard archipelago in June 2014 is a true High Arctic adventure. On board the ice-strengthened m/v Plancius, we will search for the “King of the Arctic” while exploring the pack ice north of Spitsbergen. Going beyond 80 degrees North, we will have the opportunity to enjoy encounters with the fascinating wildlife and explore the arctic nature – from glacier fronts to jagged peaks, from ice floes to the tundra, from small coastal islands to the wide open ocean. The bird life is spectacular in early summer, the flowers are in bloom, and as a small group of photographers, we will try to make the most of the 24 hours of daylight. – Clicking the link will provide you with more information (in German).

Please note: The language of this trip will be German (although the official language on board is English). This means it’s best suited for German speakers. English speakers will certainly find the unique Polar Bear Expedition Workshop to their liking. It’s combining a small-ship expedition cruise with an expanded educational program where you will be learning all you ever wanted to know about Polar Bears. You will be traveling Svalbard with Thor S. Larsen and Nikita Ovsyanikov, two of the world’s most renowned Polar Bear experts.
